BUS 122A ORIENTATION • Welcome – who I am, why I teach • Orientation – practical vs. theoretical • Demographics – majors, etc. • Enrollment: Class size will be limited to the number of seats; will take roll before break and again at 8:30; no shows will be dropped, including those on add list. • Adds: After break; will use lotto; you must attend all classes to be considered; you must provide proof that you passed all the pre-req’s. • (Bus 20, 100W)

  2. COURSE DESCRIPTION • Examine the nature, objectives and procedures of good cost accounting and cost management techniques and how they apply to: Product and service costing Decision making Cost planning and controls

  3. COURSE DESCRIPTION • Objectives: Review various cost accounting systems Learn best practices Interpret results of operating activities Improve performance of operations

  4. COURSE DESCRIPTION Examine the impact of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 on Corporations • Impact on cost accounting control systems • Impact on corporate responsibility • Cost/Benefit of implementation • Pro and Cons of effects

WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS CLASS • Prefer practical application to theory • Want good education vs. just a good grade • Not afraid to speak out in class • Practice ethical behavior • Practice professional business behavior • Want to improve written and oral skills • Interested in the greater business context including all Stakeholders
