The Era of Good Feelings: Monroe's Presidency and Key Agreements in Early America

The Era of Good Feelings marks a period of political unity and national pride in the United States after the War of 1812, characterized by James Monroe's presidency (1816-1820). Key events include the Monroe Doctrine, warning European powers against further colonization in the Americas, and the Adams-Onis Treaty of 1819, which established Florida's boundaries. This era also saw Henry Clay's American System aimed at improving infrastructure and the controversial Missouri Compromise, which balanced slave and free states, alongside the "Corrupt Bargain" of the disputed Election of 1824.
