Jesus replies “You have said so,” 3 The chief priests accused him of many things. 4 So again Pilate asked him, “Aren’t you going to answer? (Mat 27:11-14; Luke 23:1-5; John 18:28-37) 7 a.m. Jesus is Sentencedto Death Mark 15:15 ‘Wanting to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas to them. He had Jesus flogged, and handed him over to be crucified.’ (Matthew 27:26; Luke 23:23-24; John 19:16)

  3. 8 a.m. Jesus is Led away to Calvary for Crucifixion Mark 15:21-24 A certain man from Cyrene, Simon, the father of Alexander and Rufus, was passing by on his way in from the country, and they forced him to carry the cross. 22 They brought Jesus to the place called Golgotha (which means The Place of the Skull). 23 Then they offered him wine mixed with myrrh, but he did not take it. 24 And they crucified him. Dividing up his clothes, they cast lots to see what each would get. God has a plan in everything

  4. 9 a.m. - "The Third Hour" Jesus is Crucified on the cross Mark 15: 25 ‘It was the third hour when they crucified him.’  10 a.m. Jesus is insulted and mocked (Mat 27:39-40 Luke 23:36-37 -  Luke 23:39) Mark 15:31 - The leading priests and teachers of religious law also mocked Jesus. "He saved others," they scoffed, "but he can't save himself!" (NLT) 11 a.m. Jesus and the Criminal and Jesus Speaks to Mary and John God has a plan in everything

  5. 12 noon till 3 pm ‘Sixth Hour’ till ‘Ninth hour’ • Darknesscame over the whole land • Mark 15:33‘At the sixth hour darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour.’ • Jesuscried out to the Father • Mark 15:33-34 ‘At the sixth hour darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour. 34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?"-which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?“ • It is Finished. • Mark 15: 42‘With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last’ • John 19:30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, "It is finished." With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. • Luke 23:46 Jesus called out with a loud voice, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." When he had said this, he breathed his last. God has a plan in everything

  6. Events Following Jesus' Death • The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. Mark 15:38 Heb10:19-20 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body. God has a plan in everything • The Earthquake Matt 27:51-54 ‘At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split……………….. 54 When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, "Surely he was the Son of God!

  7. Events Following Jesus' Death • The burial of Jesus Mark 15:38 Mark 15:42-47 ‘It was Preparation Day (that is, the day before the Sabbath). So as evening approached, 43 Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent member of the Council, who was himself waiting for the kingdom of God, went boldly to Pilate and asked for Jesus' body. 44 Pilate was surprised to hear that he was already dead. Summoning the centurion, he asked him if Jesus had already died. 45 When he learned from the centurion that it was so, he gave the body to Joseph. 46 So Joseph bought some linen cloth, took down the body, wrapped it in the linen, and placed it in a tomb cut out of rock. Then he rolled a stone against the entrance of the tomb. 47 Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses saw where he was laid.’ God has a plan in everything

  8. Characteristics of people involved & how did Jesus respond? Chief priests & Sanhedrin: Jealous God has a plan in everything Proud and unwilling to take correction Blind w.r.t the truth of God

Characteristics of people involved & how did Jesus respond? • Pilate: Roman Governor, Man in authority, tried but did not administer the justice God has a plan in everything Finally wanted to please people He was a stubbornand a cruel ruler Jesus responded Him mentioning the truth that He is the king of Jews, but His kingdom is not of this world (John 18:36) John 19: 11: ‘You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above.

  10. Characteristics of people involved & how did Jesus respond? People: Unreliable God has a plan in everything They went a head based on the instigation by Chief priests and Sanhedrin Mark 15:11 But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to have Pilate release Barabbas instead. They knew the miracles and healings Jesus did and they knew he was a good man but still deserted him. They did not go based on their conviction.

  11. How did Jesus respond? God has a plan in everything Luke 23: 34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”

Centurion: Mark 15:38-39 Mark 15:38-39 The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. 39 And when the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, heard his cry and saw how he died, he said, "Surely this man was the Son of God!" God has a plan in everything Luke 23:47-48 ‘The centurion, seeing what had happened, praised God and said, "Surely this was a righteous man.“’

  13. God’s plans will be fulfilled irrespective of who is involved. God bring s some people about whom you feel blessed to have them. God brings some more people (Definitely)who are not so pleasant to associate with but equally important in our lives in order that we grow in patience, faith and dependence on God, godly character without whom it is difficult for us. Whoever avoids them, actually avoiding growth that God wants to bring . God has a plan in everything

  14. Would you like receive this Jesus as the Lord of your life? • Would you make a conscious choice to respond like Jesus towards People who have wronged you? God has a plan in everything
