Before We Read: This will be a QUICK activity (approx. 8 minutes) Directions: • Create a Keynote Slide for EACH of the following characters that you will be answering questions about on the following slide. • Using Google Images, copy & pastea picture of the character. • Using Wikipediato research, addtwo or three interesting facts or things to know about the person.

  3. Who is Medusa? • Who are the Gorgons? • The Three Sisters known as the Graeae? • What is a Kraken? • Who is Athena? • Who is King Acrisius? • Who is King Polydectes?

During Reading Questions • Please add entries for each day that we are reading and discussing this story. • Today’s date is Thurs, 5/23; tomorrow’s date is Fri, 5/24 (feel free to create your entry for tomorrow while you are thinking about it! • You will be pausing VERY REGULARLY while you read to answer questions about your understanding of this myth.

After You Read Discussion Questions • Please prepare a few TALKING POINTS for when we have our discussion about this myth: • What themes or life lessons can you see through this novel? • In the myths we have read, especially this one, women do not have as much control over their lives as men do. Provide examples from the myth that prove this to be true. • In what ways should Perseus be considered a hero? Who has proven to be the better hero, Perseus or Hercules? Support your reasons with examples from the text.

  12. Add to your “Stories” File • Label this story “Perseus Connection” • Think of a time when you were tricked OR you tricked somebody. It could be minor (April Fools’ Day joke), or it could be more serious • (Ms. Furness once made her sister believe that her brother got into a bad car accident on “Gullible Street.” It was all fun and games…until she started hysterically crying!) • Using your strongest word choice and story telling abilities, create a 250-300 word retelling of the event in your Google Doc.
