This project was initiated in response to a request from the medical school in spring 2003. Based on the proposed pilot-tested curriculum on fourth-year students, adjustments were made and implemented for third-year students following feedback. The focus was on developing key competencies in evidence-based searching using tools such as PICO, Medical Subject Headings, subheadings, Boolean Logic, and limits. The objective was to better prepare students for effective information retrieval in the context of internal medicine clerkship.
