  2. Samari is 2 years out of high school. • She lives with her aunt who charges her low rent by NYC standards: just $400/month.

  3. Samari works 25-30 hours a week as a medical assistant in a hospital. She made about $18,000 in take-home pay last year, and expects to earn about the same this year. • Samari attends Kingsborough Community College (with thoughts of moving on to a 4-year college). She has no one helping with tuition. Tuition costs $1750 per semester including fees.

  4. She has $1,000 in savings. Most of this money was inherited from a relative who passed away. • She would like to move out and share an apartment with a friend sometime soon, but is not sure whether this would be affordable. She would also like to buy a laptop for school.

  5. Current monthly food costs: $150 • Current monthly entertainment costs: $75
