  4. CIRCUMSTANCES • Earlier that month the Confederates won the battle of Chickamauga

  5. LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN!!! • The north captured lookout mountain from the Confederates and on November 25 1863. Northern troops out numbered confederate troops and chased the Confederates up the one side and down the other side of Lookout Mountain.

  6. MISSIONARY RIDGE • General Sherman’s plan was to attack Missionary Ridge on 21st at daylight. He had to cross a pontoon bridge and through the woods to the Chattanooga valley. But he had to retreat. • General Sherman
