  1. Paine Intermediate Club Day

What is “club day”??? • Club day is a special day that occurs approximately every other Thursday. • Students will choose their top four club choices and will get matched up with one of those options. • On Club Day you will go to your club’s meeting place. Your club will meet for 90 minutes and then you will go back to your class. • You will get the chance to choose to participate in another club in January. If you don’t get your first choice, you can always sign up again next time!

  3. Questions? • Do I have to be in a club? • Yes. It is not optional. This is a fun opportunity that takes place on Thursdays instead of going to specials. • What if I don’t get my first choice? • That may happen, but you will get the chance to try again in January. • What if I don’t feel like participating in my club one day? • This is a special opportunity and students who do not follow directions will be sent to the office for silent reading time.

Husky Helpers Club • Sponsor - Mrs. Naylor (counselor) • Location- Different classrooms on the 3rd grade hall • Important things to know: • This club will do a lot of different activities, all revolving around service projects (helping others out). • Conduct Thanksgiving Food Drive • Organize Red Ribbon Week Materials • Clean Up Around the School

  6. Art Club • Sponsor- Mrs. Ward (art teacher) • Location- Art room • Important things to know: • Art club is the club for you if you like art! • We will use lots of different supplies to create 2-D and 3-D art. • There is a $5 fee for this club.

  7. Drama Club • Club sponsor - Mrs. Tisdale • Location- Classroom on your hallway • Important things to know- • This is different than the drama club that meets after school. • You must like performing in front of others or at least want to learn about how to act in plays.

  8. Board Game Club • Club sponsor - Mrs. Williamson (librarian) • Location- Library • Important things to know- • You will learn how to play a variety of board games. • You will be working in groups to play games.

  9. Sports • Club sponsor – Coach Chrisenberry • Location- the gym • Important things to know- • Be prepared to be active! • Games and sports activities • This will be a large group of students. • Do not sign up for this club if you do not enjoy PE!

  10. Huskies on the move • Club sponsor – Coach Carlile • Location - Outside • Important things to know- • Be prepared to be active! • Fitness activities • Speed and agility drills • Distance running • Do not sign up for this club if you do not enjoy exercising!

  11. Golf Club • Club sponsor – Mrs. Boggis (crossing guard) • Location - Outside • Important things to know- • Be prepared to be active! • Learn the basics of golf • Learn how to handle golf equipment • Learn how to putt, chip, and drive

  12. All about Word and Publisher • Sponsor- Ms. Wilson • Location- Blue Hall Computer Lab • Important info- • Please only sign up for this club if you are comfortable and knowledgeable about using a computer. • We will learn how to make labels, cards, posters, invites, and much more!

  13. Computer Club • Sponsor- Mrs. Christopher • Location- Orange Hall Computer Lab • Important info- • Dreambox for ½ the time • Computer games for ½ the time

  14. Girl Scouts • Sponsors- • Ms. Brandy Key • Location- A Classroom • Important info- • This is not the same as the Girl Scouts that meets after school. • In this club you will be involved in acting, story telling, and playing games to better understand stereotypes. • There is a $20 fee for this club.

  15. Choir • Choir directors- Mr. Byars • Location- music room • Important things to know: • Choir is for students who love to sing! • During the first semester, third grade choir students will sing songs for fun and just have a good time singing. • If you love to sing, sign up for choir!

  16. Technology Club • Sponsor- Mrs. Watkins • Location- Computer Lab that is used for computer specials on 4th grade hall. • Important info- • During club day, we will have fun while learning about various computer programs. • We will make digital products which may include PowerPoint presentations, StoryJumper digital stories, Photostory videos, or Excel graphs. • We will write stories, collect/make videos, and photos to help make our presentations interesting and unique.

Survival and Emergency Preparedness • Sponsors- • Mr. Scott Hughes, served in the armed forces • Location- Classroom • Important info- • This club is a Survival/Emergency Preparedness class, based on Mr. Hughes military and personal experiences, geared toward showing the kids things they can do to help their families be prepared to react to, and withstand, disaster or emergency situations.

  18. Spirit Squad • Sponsor – Miss Thorn • Location- Classroom on your hallway • Important info- • Goal is to promote leadership and Husky spirit • Create and lead cheers about the 7 Habits at our monthly assemblies • Make leadership banners for our school • $10 fee

  19. How do we sign up for the club/activity we want? • Your teacher will give you a Club Day Selection Sheet to take home. • Your teacher will e-mail the selection form to your parents or you can log on to my website and complete the Club Day Selection form online. • Fill out the form that goes home on Friday and have your parent sign it. • Bring back your completed form by Thursday, September 5th, and give it to your teacher.
