  4. Bookshelf • Ivan is putting books in his bookcase. He has already put 74 books in the bookcase but he has 225 books. How many more books does he have toput in the bookcase? • What do we know? • 74 books are on the shelf. • There are 225 books. • What do we need to find? • How many more books does he need to put on the shelf?   5. How do we do this Problem? • Ivan is putting books in his bookcase. He has already put 74 books in the bookcase but he has 225 books. How many more books does he have toput in the bookcase? • Our clue is “How Many More?” • “How many more means we must “subtract”. Fuller Computer Lab

  6. Share the Smarties • Amber has 36 smarties to share among herself and 3 friends. How many smarties will each of them receive? • What do we know? • There are 36 smarties. • They will be shared by Amber and 3 friends? • What do we need to find? • How many smarties will each person receive?   7. ? What do we Do? • Amber has 36 smarties to share among herself and 3 friends. How many smarties will each of them receive? • Our clue is “How Many Each?” • “How many Each” usually means “divide”. Fuller Computer Lab

  8. Pop the Balloons. • Paula broke half as many balloons as Perry broke. Altogether they broke 18 balloons. How many balloons did Perry break? • What do we know? • 18 balloons were popped. • Paula broke half as many as Perry. • What do we need to find? • How many balloons did Perry break?
