The Tradition... • Mehndi is the application of henna as a temporary of skin decoration. Mehndi is derived from Sanskrit word mendhika. The use of mehndi is described in the earliest Hinduism’s Vedic ritual book. Mehndi represent of the outer and the inner sun. Traditional Indian designs are of representations of the sun on the palm. Mehndi sometimes called “Henna Tattoos”.
The Reason... • Mehndi is associated with marriage. The custom of applying herbal paste comes down from the Vedic period. Red is a colour of auspiciousness, of good women.The mehendi is the traditional Hindu colour of auspiciousness, joy and celebration. But more than that it is the bridal herb par excellence. It evokes a world of beauty, leisure and sensuous womanhood. It exudes tenderness, softness and a mystery as mysterious as the heart of a woman. It is of the finishing touches to the bride’s shringar on her wedding day, and for maidens and married women alike on festive occasions.
When do people celebrate Mehndi... • People do Mehndi or Henna Tattoos during special occasions like weeding and Muslim festivals such as Idul Fitri and Idul Adha as well. Most of the people are muslim so they celebrate during the muslim festivals. During the weeding and many people attend the women and the man can exposed their pattern in their hands, feet and hair. When they have weeding the women and the man had hanna tattoos on their hands, feet and hair, the pattern exudes tenderness, softness and a mystery as mysterious as the heart of a woman.
The Place... • Mehndi happens in India, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh. The population of India is 1,241,491,960. India is located in the South Asia. India is the 2nd biggest population in the world.
People Who Celebrate Mehndi... • The people who do Mehndi is the people that live in India, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh. The people celebrate this because it is their tradition when celebrating special occasions like when having weeding or Muslim festivals such as Idul Fitri and Idul Adha. They have the same culture which was a heritage from many generations. The community of India, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh do this tradition because they are from the same race. The area of these countries are nearby so their culture and tradition influence to each other.
Equipments / Materials needed... • The equipments to make henna tattoos are needle, cotton and bowl. They use needle because to make the pattern stay permanently in the women’s or men’s hand, feet and hair. Cotton is use for wiping the blood. Bowl is to mixed the fine powder and the water. The materials to make henna tattoos are henna ( leaves and twigs ) and water. The henna was used to color the patterns in the woman’s or the men’s hand, feet and hair. The water is to make the fine powder into liquid powder.
Steps to do Mehndi... • The young leaves and twigs powder. • Mixed with water. • Applied on the hands, feet and hair. • Make the pattern. • The steps are collect the young twigs and leaves, mixed the water with the fine powder, Applied on the hands, feets and hair and the last is making the pattern. The twigs and leaves is used to make the fine powder. The water was used to make liquid powder. Applying to the hands, feets and hair so the people can create a patterns. Making the pattern is because it exudes tenderness, softness and a mystery as mysterious as the heart of a woman.
