Decision making, leadership etc Current studies Subjects studied and recency WHAT DOES A GOOD APPLICANT LOOK LIKE? Work Experiences Any in a similar role as chosen subject? Performance What is their academic performance to date? Understanding of profession What do they know, what have they done? Predictions Predicted academic performance Communication skills Declaration of good character All required information completed Personal Qualities Compassion, empathy, understanding Numeracy & Literacy

  8. Selection process • Partnership with Service Users and Carers • Partnership with practice staff • Small group activity to assess communication skills and understanding of the profession • Selection interview • Numeracy and Literacy testing

  9. Funding for NHS programmes • NHS bursaries are made up of: • full payment of tuition fees • £1 000 grant from NHS • bursary from NHS • Maintenance Loan from Student Finance • England

  10. Funding for Social Work programme The social work bursary was introduced by the Department of Health as an incentive to train in social work. All eligible applicants receive a non-income assessed basic grant.  The position will be reviewed for entry in 2013
