  2. Choosing a Topic I heard an ayat from the Holy Quran about arrogance and wanted to know how Allah creates Human Beings from a Little thing.

  7. (56:57-59) • هَذَا نُزُلُهُمْ يَوْمَ الدِّينِ • نَحْنُ خَلَقْنَاكُمْ فَلَوْلَا تُصَدِّقُونَ • أَفَرَأَيْتُم مَّا تُمْنُونَ • It is We Who have created you. Why, then, don’t you accept the truth? Have you ever considered that (seed) which you emit? Is it you who create it? Or are We the Creator?

  8. Points: • People tend to think that they are their own creation. • We should always remind ourselves that Allah is the Ultimate Creator. • It’s a lesson for the Human Beings.

  9. 75: 36-37(A Drop of Semen) • أَلَمْ يَكُ نُطْفَةً مِّن مَّنِيٍّ يُمْنَى • ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقَ فَسَوَّى • Does man reckon he will be left uncontrolled (without purpose)? Was he not once a drop of semen?

  10. Points: The above verse states that man is created from a small part of and not the whole semen. Only one sperm fertilizes one egg.

  11. 32: 7-8(Mixture in Semen) • الَّذِي أَحْسَنَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ خَلَقَهُ وَبَدَأَ خَلْقَ الْإِنسَانِ مِن طِينٍ • ثُمَّ جَعَلَ نَسْلَهُ مِن سُلَالَةٍ مِّن مَّاء مَّهِينٍ • Who made good everything that He has created, and He began the creation of man from dust. Then He made his progeny of an extract, of water held in light estimation

  12. Points: • This shows the mixture is made up of different fluids. • These fluids exercise different functions i.e. sugar providing energy for the sperm and slippery substance for the easy movement of the sperm.

  13. 53: 45-46 & 75: 39(Sex of Child) • وَأَنَّهُ خَلَقَ الزَّوْجَيْنِ الذَّكَرَ وَالْأُنثَى • مِن نُّطْفَةٍ إِذَا تُمْنَى • فَجَعَلَ مِنْهُ الزَّوْجَيْنِ الذَّكَرَ وَالْأُنثَى • And that He created pairs, the male and the femaleFrom the small seed when it is adapted • Then He made of him two kinds, the male and the female.

  14. Points: • The male’s sperm determines the sex of the baby. • The baby’s sex is determined by which chromosome from the male unites with the female’s ovum.

  15. 96: 1-3(Clinging to the Uterus) • اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ • خَلَقَ الْإِنسَانَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ • Read in the name of your Lord Who created. He created man from alaq (Clot).

  16. Points: • The embryo clings to the uterus with roots that is firmly fixed to the earth by its tendrils. • Through this the embryo can obtain the substances essential to its development from the mother’s body.

  17. 23:14 (Wrapping of Muscles over Bones) • ثُمَّ خَلَقْنَا النُّطْفَةَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقْنَا الْعَلَقَةَ مُضْغَةً فَخَلَقْنَا الْمُضْغَةَ عِظَامًا فَكَسَوْنَا الْعِظَامَ لَحْمًا ثُمَّ أَنشَأْنَاهُ خَلْقًا آخَرَ فَتَبَارَكَ اللَّهُ أَحْسَنُ الْخَالِقِينَ • Then We made the seed a clot, then We made the clot a lump of flesh, then We made (in) the lump of flesh bones, then We clothed the bones with flesh, then We caused it to grow into another creation, so blessed be Allah, the best of the creators.

  18. Points: • This shows the shape of skeleton in general appearance of the embryo during the 7th week. • The muscles take their positions around the bones throughout the body therefore clothe the bones. This stage occurs during the 8th week.

  19. 16: 78 (Human Organs) • وَاللّهُ أَخْرَجَكُم مِّن بُطُونِ أُمَّهَاتِكُمْ لاَ تَعْلَمُونَ شَيْئًا وَجَعَلَ لَكُمُ الْسَّمْعَ وَالأَبْصَارَ وَالأَفْئِدَةَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ • And Allah has brought you forth from the wombs of your mothers-- you did not know anything-- and He gave you hearing and sight and hearts that you may give thanks.

  20. Points: • This shows that the eye begins to form after the inner ear has formed. The brain i.e. the centre of feeling and understanding begins after the development of ear and eyes. • The ears begin to formed as early as 22nd week of pregnancy and fully functioned in the 4th month. • That’s why the sense of hearing is strong in a newborn before the other vital functions.

  21. 39:6 ( 3 Dark Stages) • خَلَقَكُم مِّن نَّفْسٍ وَاحِدَةٍ ثُمَّ جَعَلَ مِنْهَا زَوْجَهَا وَأَنزَلَ لَكُم مِّنْ الْأَنْعَامِ ثَمَانِيَةَ أَزْوَاجٍ يَخْلُقُكُمْ فِي بُطُونِ أُمَّهَاتِكُمْ خَلْقًا مِن بَعْدِ خَلْقٍ فِي ظُلُمَاتٍ ثَلَاثٍ ذَلِكُمُ اللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ فَأَنَّى تُصْرَفُونَ • He has created you from a single being, then made its mate of the same (kind), and He has made for you eight of the cattle in pairs. He creates you in the wombs of your mothers-- a creation after a creation-- in triple darkness; that is Allah your Lord, His is the kingdom; there is no god but He; whence are you then turned away?

  22. 1St Dark Stage (Darkness of Abdomen) • Pre-embryonic Stage (First two and half weeks) • In this First Stage -The zygote(the newly fertilized cell) multiplies. Within the first three weeks, after it has become a cluster of cells, it embeds itself in the wall of the uterus. As the cells continue to multiply, they form three layers.

  23. 2nd Dark Stage (Embryonic) • This stage lasts a total of five and a half weeks, during which the baby is called the embryo. In this stage the basic organs and systems of the body take shape from the cell layers.

  24. 3rd Dark Stage (Foetal Stage) • Entering the third stage of pregnancy, the embryo is now called the fetus. This stage begins from the eighth week of pregnancy and continues to birth. In this stage, as distinct from the earlier ones, the face, hands and feet of the fetus become distinguishable and it takes the external appearance of a human being. At the beginning of this stage, all the organs of the 3 cm. fetus are in place. This stage lasts for thirty weeks and development continues until the week of birth.

  25. 36: 82 & 2: 117(Intellect Design) • إِنَّمَا أَمْرُهُ إِذَا أَرَادَ شَيْئًا أَنْ يَقُولَ لَهُ كُنْ فَيَكُونُ • بَدِيعُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ وَإِذَا قَضَى أَمْراً فَإِنَّمَا يَقُولُفَيَكُونُلَهُ كُن • His command when He desires a thing is just to say to it, “Be!” and it is. • [God is] the Originator of the heavens and Earth. When He decides on something, He just says to it, “Be!” and it is.

  26. Extract from Dua – e – Arafat by Imam Husein • Thou created me from dust, then gravest me a place in the loins (of my fathers), secure from the uncertainty of Fate and the vagaries of the ages and the years. I remained a traveller from loin to womb in a time immemorial of past days and bygone centuries. In Thy tenderness, bounty and goodness toward me Thou didst not send me out into the empire of the leaders of disbelief, those who broke Thy covenant and cried lies to Thy messengers. Rather, Thou sentest me out to that guidance which had been foreordained for me, the way which Thou mad its easy for me and in which Thou nurtured me. And before that Thou wert kind to me through Thy gracious fashioning and abundant blessings. Thou originated my creation from a sperm-drop spilled and made me to dwell in a threefold gloom among flesh, blood and skin. Thou gavest me not to witness my creation, nor didst Thou entrust me with anything of my own affair. Then thou sentest me out into the world for the guidance that had been fore dained for me, complete and unimpaired.

  27. Points • Allah’s Wisdom • Being thankful to Allah for being so kind and Merciful. • Allah does not need our thanks

  28. Arrogance (fakhr) • Imam Ali (a.s) said: “How man surprises me! His origin is a sperm and his end is a carcass, and between these two he is a vessel for excrement, and he is still arrogant!”

  29. What New I Found: • I found out that the baby is developed in 3 dark stages. • This was new for me.

  30. How to apply this knowledge Ponder on Allah’s works Continue to thank Allah (swt) for giving us everything that we need to survive in this world. Not to think everything is done by ourselves.

  31. In conclusion I say…. رَبَّنَا تَقَبَّلْ مِنَّا إِنَّكَ أَنتَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ Our Lord! Accept (This service) from us; surely Thou art the Hearing, the Knowing (2:127)
