PFOS PROFILE • founded in 1960 • long and successful tradition in research, education and collaboration with industry • leading educational and scientific institution in the region • oldest Faculty at the University • biggest number of the academic staff at the University • good and fruitful international collaboration

LLL activities and programs • Started in 1997 - training of staff in agricultural pharmacies • Today • Six short programs • Five postgraduate specialist studies
Short LLL programs • Conductedone or two times a year • 10 to 15 participants • Lecturers – professors, assistants and professional staff of the Faculty
Short LLL programs 1. An expert in rural development • From 2010 permission for realization from the Senate • training lasts for 60 hours • all realized in one week or weekly on Saturdays and Sundays • content is divided into six training units and one seminar, realized within interactive workshops • final exam is required • upon completion of the programme, a candidate is issued a certificate, as determined by the University regulations 2. Management of rural and local development • From 2010 permission for realization from the Senate • training lasts for 60 hours • all realised in one week or weekly on Fridays and Saturdays • content is divided into six training units and one seminar, realised within interactive workshops • final exam is required • upon completion of the programme, a candidate is issued a certificate, as determined by the University Regulations.
Short LLL programs 3. Training programme for producers of honey and other bee products on family farms • From 2011permission for realization from the Senate • training lasts for 30 hours • divided into theory and practice and realised in the form of seminars: seminar for beginners; seminar for experienced beekeepers; and seminar on integrated pest control • upon completion of the programme, a candidate is issued a certificate, as determined by the University Regulations. 4. Training programme for producers of milk and cheese on family farms • From 2011 permission for realization from the Senate • training lasts for 60 hours over 3 weeks • its content is divided into theory and practice and there is a final exam. • programme is carried out in cooperation with Croatian Chamber of Agriculture and Croatian Agricultural Agency. • upon completion of the programme, a candidate is issued a certificate, as determined by the University Regulations.

Producer of vegetables, flowers and fruits in greenhouses • From 2011 approved by the Ministry of Science • training lasts for 140 hours • divided into theory and practice • final exam • upon completion of the programme, a candidate is issued a certificate 6. Control of technical systems in plant protection • From 2013 permission from the Ministry of Agriculture • The training lasts for 55 hours; theoretical and practical work; upon completion of the programme, a candidate is issued a certificate, as determined by the Ministry
Postgraduate specialist studies 1. QUALITY AND SAFETY OF ANIMAL PRODUCTS (90 ECTS) 2. PRODUCTION SYSTEMS IN ANIMAL HUSBANDRY (90 ECTS) 3. PIG BREEDING (90 ECTS) 4. MANAGEMENT OF AGRICULTURAL FARMS (90 ECTS) 5. PLANT PROTECTION (120 ECTS) • Lectures, seminars, practical work, master thesis
On-going and future activities • University Center for LLL programs • More active work on advertising of LLL programs • Development of the plan for executing more programs in one year • Discussion with local goverment, producers clusters and Ministry about the needs for LLL programs • Development of new short programs • Upgrading of postgraduate specialist studies – rising the number of students
