Solar Energy Savings Program • Project initiated by Middlesex County Improvement Authority in 2010 • Middlesex County sites with high electric usage were targeted • Apple Orchard Lane site selected for initial evaluation – Bids for power purchase agreement to be advertised shortly • Middlesex County is now looking to expand program to include Middlesex County Municipalities and Boards of Education.

  3. Solar Energy Savings Program • Solar power systems convert energy in sunlight directly into electrical energy • This conversion (based on PV effect) occurs within solar cells which are electronically interconnected into solar modules

  4. Solar Energy Savings Program • Solar Candidates / System Sizing • Available UNOBSTRUCTED roof space (i.e. typical obstructions include exhaust fans, rooftop HVAC equipment, etc.) • Southern Exposure • Existing conditions on roof • Shading • Existing electric demand / usage
