Definitions! • Cold: Results from any of a number of viral infections of the upper respiratory tract • Most widespread and common of all diseases • Flu : An infectious disease caused by the influenza virus
Cold Symptoms The Cold: • Runny nose • Stuffy nose • Cough • Sore throat • Headache • Mild fever • Sneezing
Flu Symptoms The Flu: • Fever • Body aches • Tiredness • Dry cough
Cold Prevention The Cold: • Avoid close contact • Know when to stay home • Wash hands often • Cover mouth when coughing
Flu Prevention The Flu: • Get vaccinations • Antiviral drugs • Good health habits
Treatment: Flu & Cold • Tylenol • Aspirin • Plenty of rest • Drink lots of clear fluids • Chicken Soup • Stay at home for at least a day
