  4. Library Rules • All school rules apply—no food or drink—no phones. • Quiet voices, no horseplay. • No backpacks on the tables. • Computers are for educational use only—must be checked out before using. • Respect yourself, others, and the library environment.

  5. Visiting the library… -Hours: 7:45-4:30 M-TH -Always bring a pass and sign in when not coming with a teacher -Come with a purpose…

  6. The library is a place to… • Study • Research • Get help • Check out books • Work on assignments • READ!!!

  7. Checking out books… • You may check out 2 books at a time • Loan period is 2 weeks • 5 cents per book per day overdue—PLEASE RENEW books! • Fines must be clear to exempt tests, get textbooks, graduate • Notices are sent to you through your English teacher

  11. TAYSHAS books • Every year a committee of Texas librarians reads over 100 new titles and selects these books from established criteria. The list consists of fiction and non-fiction titles. The current year is displayed—all others are shelved and can be identified by a blue star on the spine.

  12. Library Computers • You must have a signed Acceptable Use Policy on file to use the computers • Computer privileges may be lost and/or you will receive an office referral if using the library computers inappropriately • Please print only what is necessary

  13. Library Databases • The library subscribes to several online databases annually. They can be accessed from school or home with a password and contain reliable, ad- free information for all subject areas. You can access magazine and newspaper articles, encyclopedias, maps, etc.

  14. Other library services • Copies-10 cents each • Laminating-25 cents a foot • Color printing • Binding
