  7. Interface Description • This program allows transfer of the Alabama Uniform Traffic Crash Report hard copy to an online database allowing for improved accessibility and organization. Any registered Alabama law enforcement official will have access the software and database.

  8. Task Scenario • On the scene of an accident, an officer fills out the Alabama Uniform Traffic Crash Report hard copy. • The officer may input the traffic report into the database via any Windows XP machine. This task may be completed via onboard mobile device, or at any other stationary office machine. • To begin, the user will need to login. Upon approval, s/he now has access to all previously recorded incidents. • The user may then input DPS or local case number to access previously recorded reports, or s/he may create a new report. • Users of this software are not expected to be novice users, but the program has been designed for ease of use. Information transfer is fast and simple through the fact that text fields are in similar locations as the hardcopy and items are numbered the same. • This interface has divided the actual traffic report into three separate sections. • The first is “Location and Time” which is very basic for information input. • The second section is “Driver Information.” This section allows for multiple driver information to be updated. To rotate between multiple drivers, the user just simply needs to click the underscored “Driver” interactive button. • The third section is “Vehicle Information.” This section allows for mutiple vehicle information to be updated. To rotate between multiple vehicles, the user simply needs to click the underscored “Vehicle” interactive button. • Once all information, or even partial information has been entered, the user may click the underscored “Submit” interactive button and s/he will be prompted to “Save and Continue” or to “Save and Exit.” • Once the report is submitted is now saved into the database for future access.
