  2. What is Recidivism? Recidivism, in a criminal justice context, can be defined as the reversion of an individual to criminal behaviour after he or she has been convicted of a prior offence, sentenced and (presumably) corrected. (Maltz, 1984)

  3. Difference between older and younger offenders Young offenders “face many of the same difficulties as reentering adults, yet they are also in the midst of moving from dependence on family of origin to independence, from school to work, and from immersion in the adolescent peer group to intimate partnership and parenthood. Their prospects for successful reentry are closely tied to their success along these other developmental trajectories” (Sullivan, 2004; 68).
