Why it was Written: • Was written to get people involved in the movement for African American rights

Evidence: • "One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains od discrimination." HOW WAS LIFE IN US BACK THEN: There were several acts of racism and also there were many riots. HOW THIS RELATES TO THE AMERICAN DREAM: Blacks are rioting to make a point that they should be treated equal so they can have the American Dream in peace.
