Enhancing Access to Care for Unemployable Individuals in Washington State
The Community Health Plan of Washington (CHP), a not-for-profit organization founded in 1992, aims to increase healthcare access for underserved populations. Through its General Assistance-Unemployable (GA-U) program, CHP provides state-funded medical benefits to individuals who are physically or mentally incapacitated and unable to work. With over 15,400 clients, the program focuses on improving health outcomes, reducing emergency visits, and promoting transitions to Social Security Income (SSI). CHP's integrated mental health program further enhances care coordination and addresses complex health needs.
