This narrative recounts my personal journey with Unidata, highlighting key milestones from 1985 through 2009. It includes pivotal moments such as the NSF award letter to Valery Lee in 1986, the inception of the Unidata project, and my participation in policy committee meetings. We explore two major programs: Unidata and COMET, including mesoscale meteorological workshops in Brazil and Argentina. Through these efforts, supported by the National Science Foundation, we aimed to enhance scientific literacy in small university programs across the nation.
