Introduction • The requirements for planning the supply chain of spare parts are quite different from other material: • Low random demand, high part cost • Service requirements are higher because stockouts may be financially remarkable • Demand may be extremely irregular, difficult to forecast • With such requirements, spare parts management is an important area of inventory research

  3. Term Paper Limitation • Considering multi-echelon spare parts supply chain • Focusing on the relationship between the supply chain, demand and inventory management

  4. Possible methodology • The paper might consist of: • Analyse the supply chain and demand in spare parts area • Design and offer a solution to forecast • Apply a specific inventory policy to spare parts case • Compare the expected efficiency with other inventory policies by using simulation

  5. Results • Contribute to knowledge in spare parts supply chain • Suggest forecasting solution • Adapt a inventory policy to spare parts inventory
