  2. The Early Years… • Ella Fitzgerald was born on April 25 in 1923 New Port News Virginia. • Fitzgerald went to a Methodist church and she regularly attended bible study and Sunday school.

Why is Ella Fitzgerald Famous? • Ella Fitzgerald is famous because of her scat singing. • Lady Ella’s vocal range is spanning on three octaves (Db3 to Db6). • With her horn like voice she had improvisational ability. • From 1943 to 1950 Fitzgerald recorded 7 hits. • Her most famous hit was Ella and Basie In 1963.

The Later Years… • The Queen Of Jazz was married at least twice. • She appeared on many TV shows such as Frank S intra Show, Andy Williams, Pat Boone And The Ed Sullivan Show. • Ella was hospilitized again In 1986 at Niagara Falls New York. • She was diagnosed with heart failure. • In 1993 she hade both of her legs amputated below the knee.

Interesting Facts • On November 21 1934 at age of 17,she entered a talent contest at the Apollo Theater. • In 1935 Ella was signed to be a featured singer at The Harlem Opera House. • She loved jazz recordings by Louis Armstrong ,Bing Crosby , and The Boswell Sisters. • She tried so hard to sound like Connie Boswell. • She won 13 Grammy Awards. She won the Kennedy Center for the performing Arts Medal of honor award, National medal of Art. • Presidential medal of Freedom.

  7. My Opinion My opinion about Ella Fitzgerald is that she has a sweet milky voice . And she is a very very great singer and her low voice and high voice . I think she is really really talented.
