TEAM BADDITUDE TORIN EMARD, EDWARD FULTON AND ROBERT BRAVO
Mission Impossible (original TV series) scene where instructions about the mission are given to Mr. Briggs (and then the recording destroys itself). I chose this because the clip determines the nature and scope of the mission (the project). Specifically, it describes the objective (stop the use of enemy nuclear devices and remove them from enemy location), the location (Hotel Nacional) the time constraints (use of weapons are imminent), the project budget (carte blanche as to methods and personnel), personnel issues (General Dominguez, the evil ruler of Santa Costa, is not invested in the project outcome and seeks to sabotage the project), the deliverables (2 nuclear warheads), and special considerations (should Mr. Briggs or any member of his IM force be caught or killed, the secretary will disavow any knowledge of their actions). INITIATION
The Princess Bride storming the castle scene. I chose this because the purpose of planning and design is to plan time, resources, and a Work Breakdown Structure adequately and to an appropriate level of detail to estimate the work needed and to effectively manage risk during project execution. This clip identifies all of these areas. Specifically: Princess Buttercup is marrying Humperdink in little less than half an hour (time). Work Breakdown Structure: all they have to do is: 1) get in, 2) break up the wedding, 3) steal the Princess, and 4) make their escape, after 5) Indigo kills Count Rogen. Identify risks: only one working castle gate guarded by 60 men. Team member’s skill sets (brains, swordsmanship, and strength) Available resources: a wheelbarrow, and a holocost cloak. Potential problems: how does Indigo find the Count, once he does, how does he find the team again, once he finds the team again, how do they escape? PLANNING AND DESIGN
This clip is from the movie Old School. Frank executes his streaking plan, though he is alone as no one decided to follow him =( EXECUTION
This clip is from the movie Superman Returns. Superman has flown into Earth’s low orbit. Here, with his power of super-hearing, he is monitoring Earth, listening for signs of where he may be needed. Once he identifies an alarm going off, he re-enters Earth’s atmosphere and flies in the direction of the sound. MONITORING AND CONTROLLING
Successful completion of a combat operation calls for celebration, especially if you are Val Kilmer and Tom Cruise in “Top Gun”. Here, a co-worker expresses doubts as to a colleagues safety on the job, but effectively communicates gratitude for a job well-done and a mutual willingness to collaborate on future projects. CLOSING
