What Do You Need To Accomplish? • While preparing your future, there are things you must accomplish to reach your goals. • First and foremost, completion of high school or GED (General Educational Diploma) is the first major step toward your goals. • It is good to maintain good grades, attendance, respect and a good relationship with your teachers, counselors, school officials and peers. • Extra curriculum activities such as afterschool and internships plays an important role into exposing you to responsibility as a young adult. • By being in touch with your counselors and teachers, you’re more likely to know when you are scheduled to take your SATs (Student Aptitude Test).Studying at least two hours a day will help towards passing grades.

  3. Planning • Not everyone is prepared for college or a job. To achieve this, one must self-evaluate themselves. What is your purpose in life? How long will it take to reach your goal? Is this what you truly want to do in life? Will this be a job or career that will make you happy? • Once you figure out what you really want to do, you start planning. • Planning consists of a lot of research. Such as, finding out what schools you would like to attend, test that you’ll have to take, tuition fees , if you want to stay on campus or off campus and more.

  4. Why Is The Internet Important For College/Job Planning? • Using the internet to search for colleges/jobs is very convenient. You can research at home, on your electronic device, libraries, basically anywhere you have an internet connection. • By using the internet, it is inexpensive and easier to find out information you are inquiring about. • It is inexpensive because, you no longer have to travel to the colleges or jobs to find out what they are offering or what is available to you. You can now go online and do this. • Through the internet you can see how the college/facilities look, what they require, and what is expected of you. You can also communicate with people such as professor’s, advisor’s, employers and other students to find out their perspectives of the school or job.

What Are Some College/Job Sites People Can Visit? • Below are some reliable sites that one can visit and gain information • http://www.snagajob.com • This site will help you to find a job in your neighborhood or in a neighborhood which you plan to work in. Once you sign up for this site, you will be emailed information on a specific job that hold your interest. One interesting fact about this site is that instead of making trips to the job facility for an application, you can fill out applications online. • http://www.collegeboard.org • This site will help you to find the right college for you. This site gives you information that will help guide you to the college you want to be in. It informs you on any specific college that hold your interest.

  6. My Plan • After I graduate from high school, my plan is to continue and further my education. My plans right now are to take advantage of the free SUNY (State University of New York) programs. • http://www.bkl.eoc.suny.edu/custom_content.php?id=8 • This school offers a large variety of programs which one can take and earn certificates, licenses and college credits. Anyone is eligible to enter this school no matter the age. • My interest are in medical office administrative. I am interested in this job because it is versatile, I’ll be able to help and communicate with people, and I also know that ill enjoy having the privilege to further my knowledge in the medical field.

  7. Conclusion • Technology today is very resourceful. Using the internet can help you in many ways. If you dislike travelling places, the internet is very resourceful because you can find out any information on the internet. You can fill out job applications online and not only that, you can take college courses online as well. • Even though some people are not prepared to move in to the world of productivity, being that the internet has such a large variety of options, you will come across something that may interest you. The internet is a gateway to many opportunities. What ever choice anyone makes, preparation is key !
