Activities Year long activities will include: • Use of information and communication technology in • integration with education • Documentation of the project • Record making/photographs of the activities • Video chat sessions • Excursions • Art work • Discussion / Idea sharing activities • Creative writing • Community Service • Activities to save environment

Expected Outcomes The program is planned to address the following objectives: • to provide opportunities for the students of the • deprived community to get activity based • education • to implement a cultural exchange program • among the children of diverse culture • to learn and articulate more about their selves • and their immediate environment and gradually, through interactions with their peers in other countries should be able to develop a global perspective

Expected Outcomes • to provide a platform to use their imagination to • their fullest and exhibit whatever they have • learnt so far • to increase in general knowledge • to increase thinking skills • to build up positive questioning power • to get familiar with Information and • Communication Technology (ICT)

  7. Project Process • Profiles of the teachers are exchanged with the counterparts. • A topic is given to the teachers and children. • Children work on the given topic, do a little research on it and then draw and write on it. • Children then arrange all the drawings and writings to prepare a book. • The book is handed over to the coordinator by the teachers. • Coordinator scans the “book”, digitalizes it and makes corrections/translates the write-ups of the children.

  8. Project Process–Cont. • That digitalized book (called a Newspaper) is mailed to the counterpart. • On receiving the newspaper from the counterpart, printouts are given to the children and the digitalized version is shown to the children on a laptop/computer. Children discuss the newspaper in the class. • Children ask questions on the newspaper from their counterpart. • Those questions are mailed to the counterparts and on getting the reply, answers are forwarded to the children.

  9. Class Process Class activities, which the teachers have to carry out with the children for the HI project, can be divided week wise- Week one- • Discussion on the topic in the classroom • Book reading, group reading, research, children can ask their family and friends

Class Process Week two- • Mind mapping- selection of sub topics • Discussion on the sub topics and what can • be written on it • Materials to be prepared by the children- • drawings, small paragraphs , and collection • of pictures • Group reading, discussion on what the • children have written or drawn on the topic • (can be done in small groups)

  11. Class Process Week three- • First page and index of the book to be • prepared by the children • File making, colleting materials and • arranging it

  12. Class Process Week four- • Discussion on the newspaper coming from • the counterparts • Questions to be asked by the children • Comparing the newspapers for both the • papers • Discussion on the replies

  13. Other Activities • Besides Newspapers, E-books and other • educational software/games can be shown • to the children on a laptop • Exchange of letters between children and • teachers • Live chat sessions with a Webcam between • the children in India and in Pakistan • Computer classes for the teachers involved • in the project • Art workshop
