CFCs Some natural processes put chlorine into the stratosphere, but about 85 percent of the chlorine there comes from human activity. Chemicals called chlorofluorocarbons (KLAWR-oh-FLUR-oh-KAHR-buhnz)have been manufactured for use in cooling systems, spray cans, and foam for packaging.
