  2. What is Personalized Learning? • Also known as Competency-Based Strategies • Provides flexibility in the way the credits can be earned, which provides students with personalized learning opportunities • The content is relevant to each student and is tailored to each students needs.

  3. What is Personalized Learning? (etc.) • Types of strategies used in Personalized Learning: • online and blended learning • dual enrollment • early college high schools • project-based and community-based learning • credit recovery • It also leads to better student outcomes because the pace of learning is customized to each student.

  4. Benefits of Personalized Learning • Saves Time and Money • Creates Multiple Pathways to Graduation • Support new staffing patterns that utilize teacher skills and interests differently • Make better use of Technology • An opportunity to achieve greater efficiency and increase productivity

Where Has Personalized Learning Been Implemented Already? • State Efforts • New Hampshire • Michigan Seat Time Waver • Ohio’s Credit Flexibility Plan • District Efforts • Chugach School District • Adams County School District 50 • Big Picture Learning School • Alternative/Credit Recovery Schools • Diploma Plus • Communities in Schools’ Performance Learning Centers

My Opinion of Personalized Learning • Students can benefit from more one-on-one instruction to enrich their educational experiences • May not be for all students who are not self motivated • Help to fill the graduation and achievement gap • Meets the needs of all students and all learning styles

  7. Which Students Should Be A Part of Personalized Learning? • Self-Motivated Students • Students needing a to fulfill credits to graduate due to failures • Students who do better working one-one-one rather than in a typical group/classroom environment • Students who want to excel and work ahead their designated courses of study

  8. How Does Personalized Learning Impact me? • Easier to meet the needs of students working with students on more of a one-to-one basis • Make use of more technology • Easier to keep student interested in school work
