  1. Personalized Learning Steve Russell

  2. Summary Personalized Learning Globally: • Blended Learning • Early College High Schools • Project and Community based learning

  3. Summary • Personalized Learning leads to better students engagement • Content is… • relevant to each student • tailored to each students’ needs

  4. Summary • In the classroom… • Technology can be used to facilitate personalized learning For example, the SMART board is an interactive white board

  5. Summary • Digital tools can take the a dream of personalized learning for each student and make it a reality

  6. Summary • Data Driven • Not only are students using technology, but so are the teachers. Technology is being used to assess students, and keep track of students progress.

  7. Reflection • Initial thoughts… • I do not think of technology initially • I think of small group settings • Each group has appropriately tiered problems. I am not sure technology works all the time…

  8. Reflection • After research… • I am convinced that technology is not always the answer. If technology is an effective strategy to get through to a student then by all means use it. • When I was a student, to came down to grabbing my attention. Most of the time, it was the energy of my teacher, not always the tools he/she used.

  9. Reflection • What I have noticed about some technology… • We have SMART boards and a rolley cart for wifi stations. I notice that many of the staff who tries to used these tools make many mistakes and are not trained very well.

  10. Reflection • Let’s talk about Money… • In my research, I came across many articles about grant money offered to schools, counties, or states for their participation in new programs. Many new programs created with the technology bump and implementation of personalized learning • It makes me a little sick that companies and corporations can take advantage of education. For example: Algebraic Thinking…WOW
