  1. AS MEDIA COURSEWORK ERIC AGYEKUM EMANUELS EVALUATION MY MUSIC MAGAZINE

  2. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? Before I started the construction of my magazine, I researched into different type of music magazines, what I first noticed is that all the magazines has got a Masthead, cover lines and central image. What I also noticed is that different type of magazines has got different style mastheads. Take the following magazines below for instance EYE BROW MASTHEAD COVERLINES CENTRAL IMAGE BARCODES

  3. looking at my magazine and the media products, it can be seen that most of the conventions of these media products have influenced my magazine, I used barcodes in the same way it has been used in the real magazine, I layered my central image above my masthead as in the products and followed the rule of thirds .However cover lines on my cover were not as much as those on the media product, also my masthead look complex and would have been better if it had looked simpler Eye brow masthead cover lines barcode I challenged this real media product by laying my main cover line over the central image .

  4. How does your media product represent particular social groups? Representation is medias view of reality but not reality .My magazine targets audience between the ages 16 -26 who are interested in hip-hop and R&B magazines. Looking at my music magazine, it represent this particular social group in many way, firstly I made my central image put on certain things which are mostly preferred by my target audience, lets take the chain and the shades for example, it shows the style of dressing of a particular social group, most R&B funs like to put on shades and chains which can be seen in most of the professional R&B magazines around. Secondly the language used in the magazine. During my research into music magazines, One thing i noticed is the way certain social groups are represented with language. Magazines for very high class group use complex English which is mostly hard to understand, also certain words which i have used in my magazine cannot be used in those magazines. Although this magazine represent both male and female within the ages 16-26 ,ithink males are represented more since most females don’t normally read them. Hence a reader within the social group of my magazine will notice it the moment he or she sets his or her eye on it, however anything might happen. chain shades

  5. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? • During my research and planning what I noticed is that there are many media institutions. What I also noticed is that each of these institutions deals with different aspects of media example A&N media deals with newspapers. • I noticed that BEAR MEDIA,IPC MEDIA AND HEARST MEDIA are all distributer of magazines but my magazine will not be published HEARST MEDIA, this is because they mostly publish magazine s which are meant for women ,their magazines are also about health and they don’t distribute music magazine.

  6. It will also not be distributed by BAUER MEDIA . although Bauer Media owns more than eighty influential media brands spanning a wide range of interests, including heat, GRAZIA, Closer, MCN, FHM, Parkers, MATCH, Magic 105.4, Kiss 100, Kerrang and Q. Most of the magazines they produced are rock music based. finally my magazine will be distribute by the intermedia group ,this is because my magazine is similar to the type of music magazines they distribute

  7. Who would be the audience for your media product? Target audience refers to a particular group of people, identified as the intended readers of my magazine. My target audience are mainly young people between the ages of 16-26 who are interested in R&B and hip-hop music.my target audience are young people who fancy designer cloths such as adidas. My target audience are people who aspire to be musicians in future or aspire to do a profession related to music

  8. How did you attract/address your audience? i think i have attracted my target audience, first i attracted them by using different font styles, images, language and colour. although most r&b magazine has got a simple masthead style mine is attractive because I added the shadow effect, also i made sure that my central image kept a direct eye contact with my target audience, even though he has got shades on ,his eye can clear be seen looking directly at my target audience ,I also found out that my target audience like bright colours so i used a red colour which stands out. also my central image is dressed in a way that attracts my target audience.

  9. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product? Before i started this course all i knew was ms work, after completing my magazine have learnt how to create a website using worpress, how to conduct a prepare research using google, also i have also learnt how to use adobe Photoshop and in design to create and a magazine, although there were certain times that i found these technologies very had to use, am a bit use to them now and can do great things with them .I also lent how to take pictures with professional cameras

  10. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product? When i started my preliminary exercise i had know idea about how to take pictures, edit and design a magazine in a professional way, but know i know i know there are certain rules i have to follow when a designing a particular type of magazine. Example i know which magazine will use the rule of thirds and the ones that i will not .Also i have lent how to use a form of language to address a particular social group.
