On the back side of your card: But the truth is… 1. 2. 3. • DO NOW: • Receive an index card from Mrs. C at the door. • Copy down the information as you see it above, and complete the following: • Think about three things that people think that they know about you just based on what they see or hear from and/or about you. • On the backside of the card, write down what is the real deal about those three items. If the items from the front are true, tell why. If the items from the front are NOT true, explain what the truth is. • Be prepared to share at least one item.

Tues., Aug. 27, 2013 Character Assumptions & Observations “I can…develop descriptions of characters based on observations.” • TODAY YOU WILL NEED: • Pen/pencil • Composition notebook • Your brain! • DO NOW: • Review your observations about Theo from yesterday’s video. • In 2-3 sentences, describe what Theo is like as far as the way he looks, behaves, thinks, and talks. • LEFT SIDE OF T-CHART: Think about and write down three goals that you have or will set for yourself this year. • RIGHT SIDE OF T-CHART: Think about and write down what you will need in order for each goal to happen. DO NOW: Description of the character Theo Huxtable (Do not copy this down. This is just an example. Use the space below to follow the directions from #2.) Cliff Huxtable is an older man who is a husband, doctor, and father of four children. Wed., Aug. 28, 2013 Character Descriptions “I can…identify traits used to describe a person or character.” • TODAY YOU WILL NEED: • Pen/pencil • Composition notebook • Your brain! • DO NOW: • Fold your paper along the margin on the right hand side. Do not write in this space until asked to. • 2.List three things that you would observe about a person in order to draw a conclusion about who he/she is. Michael Jackson ACTIVITY: “Who Are You?” Character/Trait Matching Each person will be given a card with either: a.) the name of a famous person OR b.) a description of a famous person Your goal is to find the person who completes your match. In other words, if you have a card with a celebrity’s name, you need to find the person who has the card with the right description of that celebrity. Once you think you have found your match, see Mrs. C. for confirmation. If your match is correct, you will stand to the side until all the matches have been found. For example, a person’s mentality can reveal what they think about different things such as topics, issues, or life in general.
