Patricians had all the power • When the Plebeians marched out of the city Rome was in crisis • Work on farms and in the city stopped • The army would be helpless if attacked • 33.5 The Plebeians Gain Political Equity • 2. The Plebeians had won political equality because they’d won certain rights • Right to elect tribunes to represent them • Could veto actions by the Senate • Elected the Council of Plebs to represent them • Twelve Tables were written • One Consul could be a Plebeian • The Plebeian Assembly could pass laws for all Romans Reading Notes 33
