  1. Lewis Letter # 5Softball/T-ball and Wellness and Healthy Eating Parents and teachers, We are now moving into our softball/T-ball unit after completing our volleyball unit. The volleyball unit was a great unit to observe where our athletes are at in regards to hand eye coordination, tracking, and overall listening skills. We still have lots to work on! We will begin our softball unit working on our 2nd unit using a striking implement. This unit will emphasis the 2 part skill of hit the ball and then run the bases. Now that we are in high school we really try to work on combining skills “hit and then run”. We do what we can to make each student successful in these lessons making modifications as necessary. Our students will also work on the skills of catching and throwing. Softball is a great lifetime activity that our students can enjoy for years to come. Our health lesson will focus on wellness and healthy eating. We will discuss the 5 food groups and use a lot of visuals with the students about what is a healthy eating choice. Discussing the types of fruits and vegetables and drinking more water and less soda. Avoiding fast foods and eating “clean” fresh, and healthy foods.
