  1. Class Expectations and Policies Photography I

  2. Class Expectations • Respect – I expect you to treat others as you would want to be treated (this means everybody) • Dillow Rule – I expect paper and other objects will stay on your desk and not fly across my room unless otherwise authorized (no airplanes and no trashketball) • Be Prepared – I expect you to bring all cameras, memory cards, batteries, paper, and pens/pencils to class each day

  3. Photography Class Procedures • You will only be allowed to check out a camera during class. • If the equipment doesn’t belong to you, DON’T TOUCH IT. • When passing equipment, don’t toss or throw it. Handle it with care and talk to the other person before letting go. • Treat all students and equipment with care.

  4. Camera Use at School • While you will be permitted to have your camera at school, you will only be allowed to use it during class or on special occasions for an assignment. • Cameras out in other classes will be seen as a disruption and will fall under the technology/cell phone policy and will be taken up in accordance with that policy.

  5. Memory Cards • Please bring clean memory cards to school. No personal pictures should be here unless part of an assignment. • You will be able to store your memory cards and batteries at the school. We will have a safe location for these items.

  6. Emergency Procedures • Lock Down • I will get the door and the curtain • One student will get the lights • One student will get the flashlight off my desk • All students will go to the wall with the door on it and will stand quietly until lockdown is over or until other instructions are given • No student may use their cell phone during a lockdown because it could impede communications for the police

  7. Emergency Procedures • Fire Drill • One quiet single file line lined up at the door • We will exit the building quietly through the closest unblocked Exit Door (we go out the front door by the office) • We will go out to the empty parking lot and find an empty space to sit in together • Stay quiet until the all clear is given or given new instructions • No student may use their cell phone during a fire drill because it could impede communications for the fire department

  8. Emergency Procedures • Air Quality • Bad Air Quality outside • All students and teachers stay inside

  9. Emergency Procedures • Outer doors locked • All outside doors will be locked • Students and Teachers stay inside the building

  10. Emergency Procedures • Inclement Weather (Tornados/Severe Thunderstorms) • Students will sit along the walls of the classroom as we are in an interior wall room • When told, students will duck and cover because weather is imminent • When told, students will return to class or follow new instructions • No student may use their cell phone during an Inclement Weather situation because it could impede communications for the Emergency Responders

  11. Procedures • Daily Journal • A picture is worth a 1000 words • Every day when you will come into class you need to pick up your journals from the designated place and fill them out for the day • Writing in your Journal • You will write a paragraph about what you see in the photograph, what you think about the photograph, and what feeling it evokes from you • It must be at least one paragraph (3 sentences).

  12. Procedures • Headers on Papers • You must have one if you want a grade • Headers should include the following • Full Name (First and Last) • Photo I – Class period • Date

  13. Procedures • Going anywhere as a class in the school • There will be one single file line • The students will be silent to leave the room • The students will be silent in the hallway so that we do not disturb other classes • The faster you get at following this procedure, the more time you will have to take photos wherever we go • Disruptions as a class will have consequences as a class

  14. Procedures • Outside Procedures • When you hear that it is time to leave, the students need to head to the indicated direction • Students will line up outside the main door to go inside and when you are quiet, we will go inside • The faster you get at getting in and outside of the building, the more time you will have to take photos

  15. Policies • Insubordination – insubordination will not be tolerated • Supplies – You will bring your cameras and other work to class with you everyday • Late Work - Late work will be accepted according to the policies of the district. Class work not completed does not fall under this policy and will be due without exception the next day.

  16. Policies • Folder • Your final project will be a portfolio, it will be placed in this folder

  17. Policies • Restroom and Other Places • Do not ask to go anywhere as you walk in the door, you will take a tardy if you need to somewhere • If you need to go somewhere you must wait until all instruction is over • Ask for permission • Sign out in the Sign In/Out book • You have three passes, after this you will not be allowed to leave the classroom • Turn in one of your passes and pick up your pass to leave from me • You will not be allowed to leave without a pass • Sign back in when you return to class

  18. Policies • Finished with Work • You may work on other homework • Bring your library book • Tardy Policy • If you are late, you are tardy and it will be logged. • You will sign in to the Tardy Log with your name, location you came from, and time you came into class • The consequences of accumulating tardies are determined by the district, but you will receive a point in class for it as well

  19. Policies • Borrowing a Pencil • Ask • Bring something you want back and trade for the time that you have the pencil (no shoes) • Return pencil and get your stuff back • Buying a Pencil • $0.25

  20. Policies • You will receive a “point” every time the teacher has to re-direct you for your behavior… this includes the following: • Talking without permission • In unassigned seat • Being out of your seat • Throwing things • Being out of dress code • Not working • Distracting others • Chewing Gum • And any other inappropriate behavior

  21. Negative Consequences for points in a week • 0-5 = Warning • 4 = Parent Contact • 6-8 = Detention • 9 or more = Referral • 3 in one day = Automatic Detention • 5 in one day = Automatic Referral
