  2. Sports Mode

  3. Because sports are fast paced activities, sports mode will give you a high shutter speed of at least 1/500 – 1/1000 of a second. With a high shutter speed to freeze movement, it means that flash is usually not necessary – though once again this works best on a bright day. Sports mode can work well alongside continuous shooting mode, where images are taken consecutively – the result is a number of shots capturing action in mid air.

  4. Things to consider • Auto Focus- The continuous AF mode lets the camera track the subject and change the focus as it moves towards and away from you. • Do Not Use a Flash- Today cameras often use preflashes, which slow things down so the shutter may not go off until after you've pressed the button.

  5. When can you use Sport mode? • Obviously sports mode is used when capturing images of different sports or activities. • You can also use sport mode for anything that has movement. (It does not have to be a sport) • Anything that has action!

  6. The Assignment • Planning- • List what you will be shooting and props that you will need for the assignment. • Think about what will make for an interesting photograph. (You can browse on the web to get ideas if you would like) • Consider the background and the subject (do they go together?) • Who do you want to work with? (THINK ABOUT ATTENDANCE… IF SOMEONE IS ALWAYS ABSENT MAYBE THEY ARE NOT THE BEST CHOICE FOR YOU) • Think about how you can make these photos different from everyone else? How can you be creative in this assignment? Hand in list to Ms. Mondino for approval before the end of the class.

  7. You will shoot 20 images. To get credit you must have ALL 20 uploaded by the end of class on the block day this week!!! • You will put your 6 BEST DIFFERENT images on a PowerPoint on Friday 2/7/14. I NEED TO SEE THIS BY THE END OF CLASS ON FRIDAY IN ORDER FOR YOU TO GET FULL CREDIT. • We will present these on the Monday of the 17th.
