The three people who have volunteered to serve for the next three years are: • Helen Johnson • Has served as HVA Secretary • Grapevine Newsletter Editor • Teaches Annual Safe Boating Classes • Tom Young • Has been active on Honeoye Lake Water Quality Issues all his life • Mark Hall • Very interested in working on Honeoye Lake Watershed Initiatives • Nominations from the Floor

  8. Macrophyte Management Plan Committee Update Terry Gronwall

MMP Committee Objective Develop and write an ecologically and scientifically sound Macrophyte Management Plan (MMP) to facilitate balanced recreational use of Honeoye Lake including: boating, fishing, swimming and other uses. The plan should meet requirements for content and format defined in the DEC document “A Primer on Aquatic Plant Management in New York State”, April 2005

Sequence of Events • Identify alternatives for further investigation • Public Meeting to present approach and solicit input/comments • Investigation and evaluation of alternatives • Formulate recommendations for draft MMP • Present initial MMP recommendations to HLWTF for concurrence • Write Draft MMP • Public Meeting to solicit input/comments on proposed MMP • Update Draft MMP • Present draft MMP to HLWTF, Richmond, & Canadice for adoption • HLWTF Submits MMP to DEC for approval • HLWTF, Richmond, & Canadice Secures funding to implement MMP

  15. Alum Treatment Project Update Problem: Excessive summer algae blooms caused by recycling of phosphorus from bottom sediments. Solution: In September 2006 treated approximately 800 acres deeper than 18’ with 120,000 gallons of alum to bind up phosphorus in deep water sediments & put algae on a “diet”. Additional Action: Due to area inside 18’ being greater than 800 acres and some misapplication errors, the vendor will return in September 2007 to apply an additional 34,000 gallons at no additional cost to the towns. Received a member item grant from State Senator Dale Volker.
