Assessments in MBBS • Three Domains of assessment: • Knowledge and Understanding • Clinical and Communication Skills • Professional Behaviour • Forms of assessment include: • Single Best Answer/Multiple Choice questions • Assignments and Project Reports • Multi-station Objective Structured Clinical Examinations • Multiple Observed Structured Long Examination Records • Structured Assessor Reports • Clinical Logbooks • Monitoring of Behaviours and Attitudes

  3. Exam papers • Stage 1: • November: 120 SBA Qs • January: 300 SBA Qs • May: 300 SBA Qs • 1. Feedback • Percentage score • Grade (Merit, Satisfactory, Borderline, Unsatisfactory) • Cohort average and thresholds (to pass and gain a Merit) • Rank • Status (Traffic light) • Green: Solid pass and on trajectory to pass year • Amber: pass within 5% of threshold • Red: fail • Meet curriculum officer if Amber or Red status • Learning outcomes associated with incorrect answers • Generic feedback lecture • Exam performance on all sites (NUMed and NCL) • Question paper focusing on less well answered questions
