  1. The 2th International Conference on Advanced Electromaterials (ICAE 2013) Lead-Free Piezoelectric Ceramics (Ba0.92Ca0.08)(Ti1-xZrx)O3 Chien-Min Cheng1*, Ming-Chang Kuan2, Ching-Hsing Pei1, Kai-Huang Chen2, Chun-Kai Wang11Department of Electronic Engineering, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Tainan, Taiwan, R.O.C.2Department of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science, Tung-Fang Design University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, R.O.C. By the conventional solid state reaction method, lead-free piezoelectric ceramics (Ba0.92Ca0.08)(Ti1-xZrx)O3 (x=0.03~0.07) were fabricated and investigated. For the B-sites, few of Ti atoms were substituted by the Zr atoms, and this will affect the microstructure and properties of BCTZ. The crystalline and microstructure were observed by the XRD and SEM, respectively. The impedance analyzer (HP4294A) was used to measure the relative dielectric constant, loss tangent, and electromechanical coupling coefficient. And the d33-meter (YE2730A) was used to measure the piezoelectric coefficient. From the measured results, it can be observed that as the content of Zr (x values) increased, the Curie temperature decreased and the relative dielectric constant increased obviously. For x = 0.05, the optimal piezoelectric characteristics were obtained (piezoelectric coefficientd33 = 162 pC/N, electromechanical coupling coefficient kP = 27 %, Curie temperature TC = 110 C).
