It was fortunate enough to earn a spot in U.S. News & WorldReport's Best Colleges guide as the No. 6 Up-and-Coming School in the South. On its 260-acre campus, CNU offers over 80 areas of study, from biology to business, and political science to performing arts.

  4. Other interesting facts! • President Paul Trible was only 30 when he was elected into the House of Representatives in 1977. He was then elected into the Senate in 1983, and in 1996 he was appointed president of CNU and strives everyday to make the students of Christopher Newport University enjoy their entire college experience. • Each fall, CNU holds a pancake dinner the Sunday before exam week. Faculty, staff, and President, Mr. Trible, and his wife serve students pancakes, with all of the proceeds benefiting Toys for Tots. • It's a campus tradition to give every freshman a penny at the start of his or her CNU career. On graduation day, each student throws the same penny into the Geese Fountain on Saunders Plaza.
