  5. The founders of the company William Procter, emigrating from England, quickly established himself as a candlemaker

  6. The founders of the company James Gamble, arriving from Ireland, apprenticed himself to a soapmaker

  7. William Procter and James Gamble founded the P&G in 1837,when they started making and selling their soap and candles. The formal partnership agreement is signed on October 31, 1837.

  8. The history of P&G • 1882 Harley Procter convinced the partners to allocate $11,000 to advertise Ivory nationally for the first time. Ivory's purity and floating capability were first advertised across the country in the Independent, a weekly newspaper. 

  9. The first brand of P&G The IVORY soap not only became the first toilet soap for America, but also the first product promoted in national scales, the first present brand.

  10. The first factory of P&G 1886 Production began in the Ivorydale factory. Ivorydale replaced the Central Avenue plant, which was heavily damaged by fire in 1884
