  2. DECA Mission Statement The mission of DECA, Inc., is to enhance the co-curricular education of students with interests in marketing, management, and entrepreneurship. DECA helps students develop career skills and competence, build self-esteem, experience leadership, and practice community service. DECA is committed to the advocacy of marketing education and the growth of business/education partnerships.

  3. The DECA Diamond Each corner represents the main DECA goals: • Social Intelligence • Leadership Development • Vocational Understanding • Civic Consciousness

  4. Middletown High School DECA • Currently 89 members • Began in 2003 with only five members • Benefits students enrolled in: • Marketing • Entrepreneurship • Management

  5. Social Intelligence • Battle of the Bands • Benefits Guatemalan refugees and Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) • Fashion Show • Benefits Middletown Neighborhood House and DECA members attending the ICDC • MHS students got to know more about DECA

  6. Leadership Development • Freshmen Orientation/ Open House • Introduction, appeal • Leadership Development Conference • Open, developed • Meetings, Guest Speakers, Encouragement

State DECA Projects • Coins For Kids • Chapters collect money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association • Chapter that raises the most money is awarded at the state conference • Community Service • Statewide community service effort • Get DECA in the community • All participating chapters are awarded at the state conference

  10. DECA Activities • Leadership Summit • Three leaders from each chapter are invited • Created by Delaware DECA • Will outline DECA state goals for the year • Educates members on leadership

  11. DECA Activities • Fall Leadership Conference • DECA partners with Business Professionals of America • Students attend workshops led by community leaders • Networking between business students across the state

Appoquinimink School District Mission Statement The Appoquinimink School District will provide opportunities and resources in a safe, nurturing environment for all students to acquire and develop the knowledge, understanding, skills, and attitudes to be responsible and contributing members in a rapidly changing and complex global society.
