Shot 1 • The first shot for our trailer includes the text “New Line Cinema” as we decided to use this studio name as it is used with similar films of a romantic genre. The text will fade in from black and out to black. We used “Modern no. 20” font as we thought that this would look most like the font that the studio use on professional published films. The acoustic soundtrack begins when this shot is introduced. There is then a cut to the following shot.
Shot 2 • For our second shot we had a landscape type shot which we thought could act as an establishing shot for the summer setting. We also thought that this would look visually effective. The voiceover at this point says “It was a summer like no other” giving the impression of an eventful time. There is then a cut to the following shot.
Shot 3 • This medium close up shot shows that Callum the male character is trying to contact her which then cuts to the following shot..
Shot 4 • This close up shot reveals that she rejects the call from Calum. The voiceover begins again here saying “She was ambitious” and carries over on to the next shot after a cut.
Shot 5 • Here is a medium three shot of Georgia played by Alexandra in the centre of two friends – appearing to be having a good time. The voiceover continues from the last shot reading “smart, and perfect in every way.”
Shot 6 • This shot introduces the production name of our group. Again the font is in “Modern No. 20” for the same affect as that on “New line Cinemas”. • The shot fades in from black and out to black which then cuts to the following shot.
Shot 7 • The soundtrack here slows as we are introduced to our male character Calum played by William Dennard. This is a mid shot in which we see him playing the guitar. The soundtrack’s pace now comes into time with Will’s playing of his guitar presenting him to be an artistic character. • The voiceover reads “And I…” which carries onto the next shot after a cut.
Shot 8 • Here is a close-up/profile shot of Callum playing the guitar. • The voiceover reads “..was just a musician from the country” which has carried on from the previous shot.
Shot 9 • Here the first actor’s name is presented to us in capitalised “Modern No. Font.” Again it is in white font and fades in from black and then out to black.
Shot 10 • The voiceover for this section reads “We were worlds apart..” which then carries over onto the next shot. • For this shot we added a “slow” effect so that Callum could be seen to be playing in time with the soundtrack. • We decided to take this shot from an over the shoulder perspective as we believed that this would give a variety of shots of Callum playing the guitar and .
Shot 11 • We decided to include this medium shot of Calum sitting playing his guitar, whilst reflecting on his relationship with Georgia as we felt that it would show his personality and the fact that he had an interest in music. • Voice Over ‘But had one thing in common.’
Shot 12 • This is a long shot of Calum and Georgia walking away from the camera. This is the first shot in which the two are together therefore we felt that this image of them would be effective as it is not giving too much away to the audience, in terms of their relationship.
Shot 13 • We decided to have this shot presenting the main female characters name just before a shot of her playing the role of Georgia as we felt that it would introduce her character successfully. • We made it so that the the name faded in slowly as we felt that this would fit in with romantic element of our trailer and therefore not be too much of a harsh effect.
Shot 14 • We used this mid- shot of Georgia in a café as we felt that it would be a good way of letting the audience know her personality. For example, it shows that even though she is in a relaxed environment she is still sitting doing her work which reinforces the fact that she is a very work- driven female.
Shot 15 • The same applies to this wide shot that we decided to use as it still shows her not being able to switch off from her work.
Shot 16 • We decided to use this over the shoulder shot as we felt that it would be good way of showing the two characters greeting each other in the café.
Shot 17 • This long shot that we have used is also effective as it enables the audience to see their body language and reactions towards one another.
Shot 18 • Here we again used Modern No. 20 white font for the text on screen.
Shot 19 • This is a mid, profile shot that we used of Georgia in her working environment, which is the first shot that shows her in these surroundings.
Shot 20 • We decided to use this cutaway shot as we felt that it would help the audience see what Georgia’s profession is.
Shot 21 • Along with this shot, we felt that the classroom shot would enhance her individualism and show her Georgia emitting professionalism. We originally would have had the actual audio from the footage however this gave too much feedback so a soundtrack was put over.
Shot 22 • Here we used the same font that was previously used to show a short description of what is to come
Shot 23 • This mid shot was used to show the intimacy between the characters.
Shot 24 • This shot was slowed down for dramatic effect. We felt this would increase the intimacy onscreen between the characters.
Shot 25 • A profile two-shot here shows Calum and Georgia in a relaxed and comfortable environment enjoying each others company.
Shot 26 • It was placed in here purposely to show a very happy and positive relationship just before the climax of the trailer hits.
Shot 27 • Once again the same font and style is used to complete the text that introduces a plot.
Shot 28 • We choose to use a long shot here to show the character’s full profiles and emphasize the anger and frustration in their body language.
Shot 29 • We chose to have a medium profile shot of both characters to show Georgia’s anger towards Calum. • This is accompanied by the soundtrack at which point the music begins to increase in tempo and become more dramatic. • This then cuts to shot 32
Shot 30 • This is a longer shot of the same argument to show their argument from different angles. • Calum is pleading Georgia not to finish their summer love. • This shot is accompanied by a dramatic soundtrack • This jumps to shot 33
Shot 31 • This medium shot sees Georgia storming off and getting into her car, turning her back on their relationship • At this point the soundtrack is at its fastest and harshest point reflecting the drama occurring on screen • This jumps to shot 34
Shot 32 • This shot has a wipe transition, where the studio name and ‘presents’ wipe across separately from the left. • It also has a wipe transition when exiting the screen. Once again the studio name and ‘presents; wipe across separately to the right to shot 35 • This shot is also accompanied by the soundtrack.
Shot 33 • This medium shot is accompanied by the soundtrack and accompanied by the voice over and on screen title ‘based on the novel by Shaun Warwick’ • This shot jumps to shot 36
Shot 34 • This shot presents the title of the film whilst accompanied by the soundtrack and the voice over “What Love’s Worth” • This shot jumps to shot 37
Shot 35 • This medium two shot mirrors the beginning of the trailer to reiterate the film’s plot • At this point in the trailer the soundtrack has become softer, similar to the opening of the trailer to reflect the light-hearted action on screen. • This shot jumps to shot 38
Shot 36 • This close up profile shot of Calum is used to demonstrate the use of shot-reverse shot within our trailer. • Once again this shot is accompanied by the acoustic soundtrack • This shot jumps to shot 39
Shot 37 • This shot follows shot 38 in the sense that it is used to display shot-reverse shot. • Similarly this over the shoulder shot can also be used to show Calum’s reaction to the situation. • This shot jumps to shot 40
Shot 38 • This is our billing block displaying our studio name, production logo, the main actors, the title, editors, producers, costumer designers music producers and editors as well as the film’s website and certification.
Shot 39 • There is an ‘eye’ transition on this shot revealing the text ‘coming this spring’ which is also accompanied by the voice over and sound track
