  4. HFMA’s Statement on Diversity The following is HFMA's statement on diversity: the Healthcare Financial Management association (HFMA) values and respects diversity. Individual differences are viewed as assets that promote the growth and success of HFMA and its members. In principle and in practice, HFMA encourages and supports diverse individual viewpoints and contributions. HFMA believes that a diverse membership is a quality membership.

Priority Objectives: • Use the member survey to assess educational interests of members • Offer diverse programs that appeal the needs of our members • Research new methods for offering educational opportunities to members • Ensure planning is in advance of event to send brochure 8 weeks in advance • Education hours per member goal 3% increase

Core Strategy Core Strategies and ObjectivesNetworking Priority Objectives: • Provide new opportunities to members to join a committee • Create interactive forum for members to become acquainted at educational sessions • Ensure that officers are available at networking opportunities and introduce themselves to other members • Research new ways to offer networking opportunities to members Provide networking opportunities for healthcare professionals.

Priority Objectives: • Recognize new members in public forum • Assign member mentor to new members • Hold 30/60 minute time of orientation at each educational session • Offer discount for programs to new members • Send new members welcome packet that includes committee information • Send letter to employers of members thanking them for their support • Send letter to employers who don’t have members explaining the benefits of HFMA • Develop three year minimum succession plan

Priority Objectives: • Follow-up on non-renewals of membership • Hold educational webinar or session explaining HFMA and benefits of volunteering • Membership count goal: maintain current count • Create an employment resource for members seeking and/or offering new opportunities • Financial Executive Metric goal: 38 executives • Membership Satisfaction goal: 49.0% • Providers as % of Officers and Board goal: 60%

Core Strategy Core Strategies and ObjectivesCertification Priority Objectives: • Offer coaching course for members at educational sessions • Offer certification testing site annually at a chapter session • Improve chapter web-site in certification area • Develop certification brochure that explains process and benefits • Market certification benefits in communications and education sessions Increase the number of members who become certified

Core Strategy Core Strategies and ObjectivesCommunication Priority Objectives: • Include committee contacts and information quarterly through monthly President’s message • Enhance web-site information • Improve timeliness of communication regarding education sessions-send brochures 8 weeks ahead of date • Add new areas to newsletter to include new member spotlight, volunteer spotlight • Ensure newsletter meets goal of 4 times per year Improve and increase communication to members

  15. Implementation Plan • The implementation plan is the document that brings the strategic plan to life. It is reviewed each month by the President and President-Elect to ensure the plan is on target. • The implementation plan: • Lists tactics for each key objective • Indicates the officer, board member or committee chair accountable for each key area • Shows the priority of each tactic • Lists a completion date as well as interim progress report dates to be given at monthly board meetings • Indicates the status of each tactic at different points in time • Provides updates in abbreviated note form for each tactic

  16. Strategic Plan Review Process The strategic plan will be reviewed and updated annually by the in-coming board and officers at the Mini-Leadership Training Conference (LTC). It will be approved at the beginning of each new fiscal year by the board of directors.
