  1. Calorimeter Status Nirmalya Parua, SUNY @Stony Brook

  2. Trigger Signal before any modifications After we put new cap and changed a resistor during summer shutdown We have done intensive debugging during shutdown After new active resistor pack was put in during January shutdown Handful of channels always fail during course of operation. We will continue to do debugging and improvement. We will use any opertunities of chance accesses

  3. When a BLS supply supplies slightly lower voltage, readout becomes noisy We have replaced this supplu during shutdown and measured voltages on all 36 BLS supplies. For part of preventive maintenance we will check voltages on all supplies once every month. This will require 2 hours of access During the shutdown, for preventive maintenance we had also replaced all fans (a total of 72 fans) for preamp power supplies. These were very difficult to access. The entire shutdown was used, overtime foe techs was also necessary. We had put RPM sensors on 6 fans. We have procured components for remaining fans and will put the sensors during Summer shutdown.

  4. Thanks to everyone who were involved in hardware fix, during the shutdown. Cal: Dean Schamberger, Robert Zitoun, Nirmalya Parua, Mike Tuts, Mingcheng Gao, Shaohua Fu, Leslie Groer Mike Cherry, Ben Abrahams, Dave Huffman, Pierre Imbert, Claudine Bellouis, Pattrick Cornebise, Laurent Duflot, Stephanie Beauceron. Amanda Bayless, Jungie Jhu, Carmen and Yolanda. L1cal : Bob Kehoe, Dan Edmunds, Philippe Laurens, Joe Kozminski, Daniel Mendoza, Amanda Bayless. ICD: Andy White, Mark Sosebee, Barry Spurlock, Ted Eltzroth, Qun Yu, Lee Sawyer, and Alan Stone

  5. We had touched up the BLS fanout modules in Crate 11(ECN, Phi 49-64) and Crate 10 (ECN, phi 1-16) during the shutdown. 33 BLS daughter cards, 17 Mother boards, 14 L2 SCA chips and 2 Analog drivers were replaced during the access. Total Number of channels affected is ~1400. New preamp off pedestal runs were taken to determine new channels that have differences at different levels of SCA. Pattern ramp runs were taken, awaiting analysis results. Runs with several combinations of SMT/CFT on/off were taken to study coherent noise, awaiting result

  6. Lot of ICD channels were debugged using electronic and LED pulsers. 4 PMTs, Several bad HV drivers cards, 2 bad PMT sockets, and 2 bad preamps were replaced during the access.

  7. New ramp runs were taken just before the beginning of the access. This shows slight changes. As we had modified all BLS boards, new ramp runs are taken and will be analyzed soon. We should use new non-linearity functions for post shutdown data. DAC Y-offset g new old From Robert’s Talk on 28th Jan

  8. Significant improvement on cal_examine was made during past month by Florencia and Improvent on L1cal-examine by Bob Kehoe. Also now these are combined. Download/verification has improved significantly by Ulla Blumenchein and Bill Lee. New and improved calibration database, pulser calibration is almost ready to be used – thanks to Ursula. We need many many people to complete several studies and maintain/improve cal software. Without help coming soon calorimeter will be in a bad shape.
