  2. I am a veteran of the war.

  3. I up and joined the army back in 1964

  4. At 16 I just had to be a man at any cost

  5. I volunteered for Vietnam where I got my leg shot off

  6. I recall a quote from a movie that said "who's more a man Than a man with a reason that's worth dyin' for" Here Stevie is trying to say fighting in the war is a reason to die.

  10. But now I stand at the back of the line when it comes to gettin' ahead

  11. They gave me a uniform and a tiny salty pill

  12. To stop the big urge I might have for the wrong kind of thrill Many soldiers took drugs during the war for a thrill, to ease their pain.

  13. They put a gun in my hand and said, "shoot until he's dead"

  14. But it's hard to kill when 'please your friend' echoes through your head

  15. Brought up in church taught no man should take another's life

  16. But then put in a jungle where life has no price

  17. They had me standing on the front line

  22. Another war is in the brewing

  23. But what about the lives of yesterday

  24. The Brady Bunch was a popular television show during the time period of the Vietnam War And the many happy families that have been ruined

  25. My niece is a hooker

  26. Many people turned to drugs from stressing during wartime. and my nephew's a junkie too

  27. Due to long periods of time together, the soldiers bonded as brothers, united as one. But they say I have no right to tell them how they should do

  28. They laugh and say "quit bragging" 'bout the war you should never have been in

  29. After the war, many Soldiers suffered with nightmares, flashbacks, and experienced extreme paranoia if ever hearing noise resembling a gun shot. But my mind is so brain-washed I'd prob'bly go back and do it again
