  2. Concrete Noun Concrete nouns name specific things that can be directly experienced or perceived by the senses. Grammar Page 86

  3. Ex. #1:Airplane is a concrete noun because it is something you can see, feel, and hear. Ex. #2: The pancakes are still hot. Ex. #3: My sister wanted a small dog with soft, fluffy fur and a wet nose. Ex. #4: The car was so loud I could not hear what my mother was saying.

  4. Abstract Noun Ideas or concepts that cannot be seen, heard, felt, tasted, smelled, or directly experienced. Grammar Page 86

  5. Ex. #1:Justice is an abstract noun because it is a concept that cannot be directly perceived by the senses. Ex. #2:Honestyis an important traitfor everyone. Ex. #3: Her greatest wishwas for peace around the world. Ex. #4:Democracy is an important tradition in the United States.

  6. Practice! • On a sheet of paper, complete the following activity: • Write down the 10 sentences, then identify the noun or nouns in each sentence • Underline the concrete nouns • Circle the abstract nouns. • Hint: The # in the ( ) is the # of nouns in the sentence! • Keep this paper with you to add tomorrow’s grammar warmup.
