IEEE CS LEAD IEEE COMPUTER SOCIETY Leadership and Professional Development Student Chapter • Interested in having a successful career in computing, information technology, computer science, or information systems? What about also becoming an entrepreneur?Either way, you are invited to our next UTEP IEEE-CS LEAD Student Chapter meeting. • The purpose of the IEEE-CS LEAD student chapter is to develop entrepreneurial, leadership, professional, and business acumen among UTEP students through seminars, workshops, mentoring, networking, and student-led activities. • Benefits of membership in IEEE-CS LEAD are the acquisition of entrepreneurial and leadership skills and learning the value of service. You will acquire skills such as networking, strategic planning, meeting management, oral and written communication, presentation, goal setting, business planning, and development of business models. • Agenda: • Workshop :Elevator Speech for Engineers and Scientists(You will receive material to prepare for the workshop when you RSVP) • Chapter Fall 2011 plan • Lunch will be provided if you RSVP. Rick O’Brien is currently a Professor at the UTEP College of Engineering where he teaches Leadership for Engineers. Mr. O’Brien has worked as a business coach, mentor, and consultant. He also offers business-related workshops, seminars, and executive coaching. He has worked for 18 years in several management positions in the industry including telecom, software, and semiconductors as a senior manager in sales & marketing and in strategic alliances. He also worked for 15 years as an account executive and as a telecom marketing solutions specialist. His technical background includes real-time operating systems, software development & testing tools, SOA, requirements management, process & revision management, process best practices (EMI, RFI, EMC), fault tolerant systems, fail-over strategies, redundant solutions, and aero-systems engineering.
