  3. Rules • Must be own work- no copying/group work • Entry must be no more than 5 pages long • Entry must bear full name, age, gender, nationality and name of school • Title must be “Let us protect our mangroves”

Let's protect our mangroveThe environmental importance of mangroves1 - Play the role of incubators for many marine organisms. • 2 - Contribute to the enrichment of the marine environment as a natural resource of marine organisms and for sustainable development. • 3 - The mangrove forest is always a haven for many fish and marine organisms. • 4 - Play a key role in protecting the beaches from erosion. • 5 - Use of timber in building houses and boats and construction of the fence, and wood carvings and bark for use in the manufacture of paper pulp. • 6 – Mangrove was used in ancient times in the medical aspects to contain some important organic compounds used in making drugs.7 - The leaves were used as food for animals.

  5. #Winning • Essays must be handed in by January 5th. • The 10 best entries will be selected and forwarded to the competition organisers. • Winning entries will be displayed at an exhibition on Environment day (24th April) and prizes will be awarded.
