  6. Holmen High Math Courses What class should I take next year?

  7. Find the class that you took this year on the left. Find the class that you should register for next year on the right. This year I took….. Next year I will take….. • Applied Math II • Algebra I-4 • Geometry • Geometry • Algebra 2 or 2-4 • PreCalculus • APCalc or Statistics • Applied Math I • Applied Math II • Algebra I • Algebra I-4 • Geometry • Algebra 2 • PreCalculus

  8. Can I take more than one math class in a year? • YES You may sign up for a math course in the fall and a math course in the spring. This may be necessary if you are hoping to take both of the AP courses that we offer at Holmen (AP Statistics and AP Calculus)

  9. How do I know if I should take Algebra II or Algebra II-4? • It depends! Please meet with your Geometry teacher. He/she will be able to recommend which course you should take. Please take his/her advice!! • Algebra 2 is a fast paced course for students that have a solid foundation from Algebra I and Geometry. Plan to have homework daily and to come in and get additional help regularly. • Algebra 2-4 is a slower paced course for students that have taken Algebra 1 and Geometry and done alright, but need more time with concepts and like a slower paced course.

  10. New Course Offerings in Math We are offering 2 new course in the math department! COMPUTER PROGRAMMING (1 Term) DISCRETE MATHEMATICS (1 Term) You should have strong math skills (C or Better) in Algebra 2 or permission from Geometry Teacher to sign up for these courses. Great courses!!

  11. AP Registration Preregistration: • Place AP classes in your schedule – even if you have not been approved yet • Schedule required and elective classes around the AP schedule • Choose alternatives to AP as a backup • KNOW YOU MAY NEED TO REVISE AT A LATER DATE

  12. Youth Options Scheduling Preregistration – only if you qualify for Y.O.: • Do not write down Youth Options as a class choice • Put Youth Options as an alternate class • Group required classes together to make it easier to free up time • Choose classes for all four periods • KNOW THAT YOUR SCHEDULE WILL BE CHANGED AFTER Y.O. REGISTRATION
