  1. 1/11/22, 12:54 PM https://www.petrophysics.net/training/rep/ Petrophysics Pty Ltd Renewable Energy Primer INDEPENDENT CONSULTANT & TUTOR IN PETROPHYSICAL DATA INTEGRATION Renewable Energy Primer The REP Highlights webinar All courses available Online as Virtual Instructor Led Training – VILT Instructor Mark Deakin, PhD (Petrophysics) Public courses 2 full days. Tailored In-House 2 to 3 days Who Should Attend? Forward looking Energy Companies. Power Generation, Power Distribution, Utility and Oil & Gas managers tasked with evolving their business towards sustainable energy operations • Government policy makers • Developing country policy makers who must broadly understand alternatives • Private Equity, Bankers & Energy Investors who need Key Facts, major trends and a sober, balanced understanding of today’s diverse energy market • Renewable Energy University Departments • Renewable Energy staff who must keep updated to adapt and expand their business • Scientists and technical staff in Sustainable Energy • Energy producers, distributors & retailers • Architects, planners • Individuals or companies installing solar or Off-The-Grid systems • Large en- ergy consumers – could your organisation benefit? • Mr and Ms Interested General Public Bring your laptop with MS Excel. Course slide example | Course Testimonials Renewable Energy is abundant and all around us. It is energy storage and distribution which limit its use. This forward looking and continually updated review of the Renewable Energy landscape, distills, com- pares and contrasts all major Renewable Energy Sources using standardised metrics. For each type: Solar, Wind, Hydro, Biomass, Geothermal, Wave, Tidal and Nuclear; the total contribution, intermittency, engineering setup, equations, key facts, pros & cons and future growth are compared. Each type is juxtaposed with diesel and LNG so that we may better understand the challenges of renewable energy. The course investigates current https://www.petrophysics.net/training/rep/ 1/3

  2. 1/11/22, 12:54 PM https://www.petrophysics.net/training/rep/ and emerging technologies in the critical area of Energy Storage, covering energy density, green hydrogen, pumped hydro, gravity, lithium ion & redox flow battery’s, CAES, thermal, flywheels, capacitors & SMES, explaining their benefits, limitations and application. The problems with Grid Integration is covered in some detail in- cluding Intermittency, Frequency and Latency and the future inevitable(?) mass inte- gration with EV’s. Climate change, global imperatives and conservative future sce- narios are presented. The course presents an exciting, detailed and fact-packed review of the rapidly evolving and increas- ingly diverse energy landscape on our planet today, from an experienced energy consultant and highly re- garded Course Instructor. The course highlights the typical technological, financial and social choke points that stymie renewable energy implementation in the developed and developing world. Projects are reviewed in con- ventional financial terms, showing ways to circumvent failure and highlights the crucial technologies set to break through the current choke points. Renewable Energy Project Brainstorm. The objective of this course is to equip us with the knowledge to intel- ligently critique renewable energy projects, identify flaws, propose solutions and rate a project in quantitative ROI (return on investment) terms as well as the more qualitative environmental impact. The course involves an engaging ongoing daily debate in which the class is divided in two to propose and develop their own RE project. This influx of fresh knowledge keeps the course exciting and at the leading edge but also practical and cri- tiqued! Brainstorming merges the keenness and expertise of attendees with the diverse factual database of this course and subjects the resulting proposals to critical debate. Finally, each participant is asked to share just one sentence which they feel is important for us all to know about Renewable Energy – their personal inspiration. You Will Learn That Renewable Energy is abundant. Energy Density, Storage and Distribution limit ts use The basic technology behind each major Renewable Energy type The natural setting to which each major Renewable Energy type is suited Does this emerging technology address a choke point or is it just interesting science? The emerging technologies that will propel Renewable Energy over the next five to ten years Energy Storage: Green Hydrogen and Hydrogen Fuel Cells, Pumped hydro, Gravity, Air, Solid & liquid batter- ies, Capacitors, Chemical, Isomers, Isotopes, Thermal, Mechanical and numerous other emerging storage types; their technology and application Good and bad Renewable Energy projects – what made them good, what made them bad The role of government and private investment in Renewable Energy Why Renewable Energy will replace fossil fuels The Global Imperatives that drive Renewable Energy Your key points listed, discussed and rated The influence of Science, Media, Celebrities on Renewable Energy investment Course Content Detailed Contents https://www.petrophysics.net/training/rep/ 2/3

  3. 1/11/22, 12:54 PM https://www.petrophysics.net/training/rep/ Course content may be emphasized and focused on specific topics according to class requirements The technology, emerging technology, problems and economics vs. 1 litre of Diesel and LNG for: Solar Wind Hydro Biomass Geothermal Wave Tidal Nuclear Renewable, Sustainable and Alternative Energy Electrical Energy Storage media vs. 1 litre of Diesel. Is it energy dense, cheap, mobile and safe? Electrical Energy Distribution issues: local, national & international grid management Renewable Energy Brainstorming class project Your personal Renewable Energy takeaway presented and discussed! Your Dream Renewable Energy Project – Does it stand up? Instructor CV Dr Mark Deakin is a consultant, author and lecturer in Petrophysical Data Integration. He holds a Ph.D. in ‘Integrated Petrophysics’ from London’s Imperial College, is an ex Amoco petrophysicist, and has 25 years ex- perience, including 12 as a lecturer and director of PETROPHYSICS Pty Ltd. He has performed over 50 detailed reservoir studies, primarily in Southeast Asia’s difficult carbonate and stacked ‘low-contrast-pay’ reservoirs, keeping abreast of new technologies by technical reading, operations work, attending short courses and lectur- ing. Deakin’s proven approach is to identify and rank reserves uncertainties then guide companies toward de- fensible reserves via a process of targeted data acquisition, data-hierarchy and systematic integration. After his PhD Deakin authored the first public Integrated Petrophysics course which has evolved into the industry bench- mark course for mainstream petrophysics. Deakin also developed “Carbonates & Fracture Petrophysics – A Roadmap” and the powerful PetroDB-WEB core-log-test linked database evaluation for complex reservoirs. Deakin is a member of SPWLA with offices in Perth, Australia. PS: If you love THE FUTURE OF ENERGY you will love this course! https://www.petrophysics.net/training/rep/ 3/3
